I took this photo at the Prairie Winds Birding Tours run by the Hubbard family just west of Kearney, Nebraska this weekend.

The Hubbards will meet you before dawn, introduce you to their land and to bird ecology, drive you to the blinds they have made out of horse trailers (very comfortable, with excellent views of the lek), then take you back to their home for coffee and muffins.

I highly recommend the people, the experience, and the birds.

A bird is perched on an old-fashioned, metal farm implement wheel in a field of dry grass.
