Life
Even this late in October, the prairie garden is still very full of life. The dried sunflowers have become dense packets of nutrition, and the birds are feasting. If the garden lasts through the winter, there are enough sunflowers in there to feed the birds all winter long, and to plant hundreds of new sunflowers for the coming year.
And the sunflowers and asters and maximilians are still blooming, so all the pollen-seeking insects, and the ones that come to sip sweet nectar have food as well, at least until the frost brings that banquet to a close.
